WHITEVILLE – Whiteville defeated East Bladen 3-0 Monday night in non-conference volleyball action by set scores of 26-24, 25-12 and 25-19.
Lady Eagle senior Trinity Cromartie reeled off 5 straight service points to slice a 22-16 Whiteville lead to 22-21 in the opening set. The East Bladen spurt stretched to 8-1 and provided the visitors with a set point at 24-23, but the Lady Wolfpack won the next 3 points to take the set.
East Bladen started the 2nd set with a 7-1 spurt behind the serving of seniors AnnaGrey Heustess and Maegan Burney, but Whiteville regrouped to knot the score 7-7 then pulled away for the Set 2 win.
The 3rd set was back and forth with ties at 9-9 and 13-13. Senior Karlie Priest fired in an ace and another service point for a 15-13 East lead. Whiteville went up 17-15 then led 19-18 before closing out the match with a 6-1 run.
East Bladen will travel to East Columbus Tuesday with jayvee action starting at 4:30.
