TABOR CITY- South Columbus defeated East Bladen 2-0 Thursday in non-conference junior varsity volleyball action by set scores of 25-11 and 25-21.
A run of 11 straight service points by India Sammons snapped a 10-10 tie and propelled the Lady Stallions to the 1st set victory. Another 5-point service run by Sammons stretched a 16-15 South lead to 22-15 in the 2nd set.
Molly Evans fired in 6 service points, an ace, a kill, another attack and had 2 digs for East Bladen. Sophomore teammate Iveonna “NeNe” Ward hammered in 3 attacks, a kill, a block and 2 service points.
Sophomore Zoe Smith knocked in 2 kills, 2 more attacks and a service point for the Lady Eagles. Sophomore Martha Simmons drilled in 3 service points and an attack. Sophomore Mollie Tatum slammed in an ace, a kill and another attack. Bridget Taylor smacked in a kill and had 1 dig. Sophomore Mary Frances Sutton contributed 1 block.
East Bladen, now 1-1, will travel to Whiteville Monday for a 4:30 match.
